Manufacturing

Not only in the formulation of our products, but also in the production of them, ecology is central. Our offices are certified "zero energy offices". Our warehouse and production unit are very energy efficient. All electricity is generated by our solar panels and the heating and cooling is done by geothermal energy.
But we have also thought about the waste water from our location . Because we are so fascinated by water, we have been a certified zero discharger of waste water since 2001.
In this way we can offer the most ecological products so that our ecological footprint remains as small as possible

Our new Factory building

In 2015, we decided to expand our existing factory buildings so that we could increase our production and better serve our customers. We have worked hard on the vision of the new wooden building that has been in use since 2017.

It was very important to us to set an example in terms of sustainability and the environment when building the new 1650 m² building. For example, we imposed a limit on the contractor who carried out the construction of 500 tons of CO2 that could be used for the materials and for the transport needed to erect the building. That is why the building is made of FSC-certified wood, and therefore comes from sustainably managed forests. Even the elevator shaft, 4 stories high, is made of solid wood. From the zero level, not a kilogram of concrete was used. In comparison: a classic concrete/steel building would easily have cost at least 3 to 4000 tons of CO2.

production unit

On top of the production area there is a green roof and beehives. The warehouse was equipped with PV panels, enough to provide all buildings with sufficient electricity in winter and summer. The building was not connected to the electricity grid, and is therefore completely 'off grid'. The cooling and heating is done by geothermal heat pumps, and the building has a shutdown plan, in which a smart system switches certain processes off and on based on the amount of available electricity. We store the excess energy in Lithium-Iron-Phosphate batteries to use when the sun is not shining.

The new buildings not only have a new production and warehouse, but also 2 floors of product development labs, a training room and offices with a view of the surroundings of Aarschot.
